Safer Internet Day
As educators and parents (and parent educators) we wish we could more easily filter the Internet to make it safer. While that can be difficult to do, we can have powerful conversations with kids about Internet safety, and take advantage of available tools from which we can all learn.
Google for Education has deemed February 11 as Safer Internet Day. While not a Hallmark holiday, it is an opportunity to think about the interactions our kids have online everyday, as well as our own.
Interland is an online game simulator created in conjunction with Google’s Be Internet Awesome program. Tip sheets are also available for Google’s 5 pillars of the Internet Code of Awesome. Those tips can be downloaded here. We have also included images of those tips with this article.
