Teacher Retirement, COVID-19 Style

Teacher Retirement, COVID-19 Style

During the shelter-in-place, typical routines and plans have been disrupted in the interest of health and safety. We at Neoga Elementary School understand the importance of keeping people healthy and safe, but we find ourselves in a predicament.

We’re accustomed to playing, learning, and celebrating together at school.  The inability to do that has been difficult for all of us.  It has been especially hard on one of our teachers, Mrs. White, who very much wanted to experience her last Gross Day, Spring Sing, Mother’s Day Tea, etc. with her students this year.

We would be remiss if we didn’t somehow acknowledge and applaud Melinda White for her service to Neoga School District and her dedication to the students here, both past and present.  For more than thirty years, Mrs. White has served with distinction, earning the first Neoga CUSD#3 Teacher of the Year Award along the way.

Mrs. White has consistently put students first, going the extra mile to ensure that their minds, spirits, and bodies are cared for.  She works to lift up and support those around her.  Her contributions to the school and the community truly can’t be measured.

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge our present limitations.  No party.  No big send-off.  No grand gesture of appreciation in front of students.  We want, however, to show her that we still care, to shower her with affection, if you will.  We also want to provide an opportunity for well wishers to do something.

We believe that Mrs. White would treasure any memories or sentiments that you have.  Would you please take a few moments to share those with her?  You can send them to Melinda White at 899 N 3800 East Road, Neoga IL 62447, or leave a message online at https://www.facebook.com/mrswhiteisretiring.

Most of all, we want to thank Mrs. White for sharing her commitment to education with us.  We wish her only the best in her retirement years.

                                        Sincerely,
