FAFSA Completion Night for Senior Parents
On August 2, 2019 Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed H.B. 2719 which requires parents/guardian of graduating students (starting with the class of 20-21) to complete the Free Application for Federal State Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA is the form that has typically been filed by families whose student is planning on attending college and is seeking federal/state financial aid. The new law however, now requires all parents or guardians to fill out this application, regardless of the student's future plans. There is a waiver provision, which is in compliance with the new law, for those families who do not wish to file the FAFSA.
Neoga High School Guidance is hosting a FAFSA completion night on October 20th at 6:00pm in the gym for any parent/guardian who would like assistance in this process. Computers will be available to fill out the FAFSA online. A financial aid counselor from Lake Land College will be here to assist any parent/guardian with this process and answer any questions. Make sure to bring your Income tax forms and W2’s from 2019 in order to complete the application.
If your child is not planning on attending college or you do not wish to fill out the FAFSA make sure to fill out the waiver that was mailed home and return it to Mr. Davis.
