Re: 2nd Quarter Student Support/Intervention
Beginning Monday, October 26, from 2:00-2:50 p.m., we will begin offering daily after-school academic support to our students.
Teachers will communicate with students (and parents as needed) who would greatly benefit from this extra support to set up the day(s) and times. Students and/or parents may also request or initiate this support.
The additional support will focus on specific identified standards/skills on which the student is either struggling or approaching, homework support, help with make-up work, help with projects/papers, test/quiz retakes/makeups, etc.
If needed, we will provide rides home to students who don’t have their own transportation. Please understand transportation availability may be limited and vary from day to day. For students with their own vehicles, they may not need to stay for the whole time. At the point where they are done, they may be dismissed and head home.
The plan is to offer this support Monday-Friday, as needed. We will have the following subject “emphasis” for each day:
Monday = Math
Tuesday = ELA
Wednesday = Science
Thursday = Social Studies
Friday = Business/Technology/Agriculture/Health/Art/Music
Students may stay after for support any and all days; but students who are referred for multiple areas of support, will focus on that specific day’s area of emphasis, and may be shared with other teachers/departments once their work is done. An academic intervention and/or support isn’t a “lifetime” sentence; it will be directed at a specific skill/standard/purpose, and once that outcome is reached or mastered, the student “moves on.”
Masks, social distancing, and daily seating charts will be in use during this time. Please note: This is subject to change based on COVID cases and quarantine levels within our school.
