NES Respect Week
Last week NES celebrated RESPECT Week. In conjunction with Illinois Special Olympics, students participated in various events each day to practice showing respect to others.
Monday was pajama day and included guest speaker Vanessa Duncan from Illinois Special Olympics Area I; Tuesday was sport apparel/college day; Wednesday was Decade Day; Thursday was Switch it up Day - teachers as students, students as teachers; Friday was Neoga Red Respect Day.
K-1 students painted rocks that will be hidden around the school campus by teachers. 3-5th grade students participated in team building activities in the gym.
Mrs. Osborn, Neoga/Sigel Special Olympics coach, organized the event which focused on teaching students empathy and respect. Mrs. Osborn noted that it's a great joy to work in a small town school with supportive staff and enthusiastic students.
