The Academic Challenge is sponsored by the WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) organization through the University of Illinois to recognize students who excel in academic areas. The students are required to take two rigorous tests from the following subjects: biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, math, and physics. Each level of competition increases the level of difficulty on the tests. The tests are administered at several junior colleges throughout the state of Illinois and Missouri with advancement to universities for sectionals. The finals are held in April at the University of Illinois.
