2021-22 Reopening Plan - August 12, 2021

Neoga CUSD #3 School Re-Opening Plan for SY 2021-2022 Approved by the Board of
Education on August 12, 2021

School Day

  • At this time remote learning is not approved by the Illinois State Board of Education. According to ISBE, only those students subject to local health department quarantine orders and ineligible for a vaccine are eligible for remote learning. The Superintendent is directed to explore school board policy language in order to provide remote learning for extreme cases in families with serious medical conditions in the immediate household.
  • The school board strongly recommends anyone inside a school building to wear a mask. The Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Office of the Governor have regulatory authority and may force more stringent adherence to mandates. If directed, the school will follow those directives when required to do so. Note: Masks are required according to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s Executive Order Executive Order Number 18 (COVID-19 EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 85)from August 4, 2021.
  • School will start at the usual times - 8:00 for NES and 8:05 for NJSHS.
  • School will be in session for a full day with 2:50 dismissal.
  • Locker rooms will be utilized for PE, and students will wear required PE uniforms. We will resume and highly encourage the use of the weight room during PE.
  • Students will eat lunch and breakfast in the cafeterias. In order to provide more physical distance, the Commons will be utilized at NES and the library for high school.
  • The district will keep an additional custodian to ensure proper cleaning practices are maintained throughout the school day.

Students

  • Good hand hygiene will be strongly encouraged at all grade levels.
  • Students will be frequently reminded to use appropriate respiratory etiquette.
  • All school meals will be free as long as the USDA allows. When the meal pattern changes, we will start charging for meals again.
  • As we did in 2020-2021, the district will regularly benchmark students to look for learning loss and to help in determining interventions for students.
  • Interventions will continue in all buildings with W.I.N. time re-established at NES and the intervention period re-established at NJSHS.
  • Chronic absenteeism will be referred to the ROE Attendance Specialist and/or the Cumberland County States Attorney as appropriate.
  • All medical records, physicals, dental exams, and vision exams should be completed for students as indicated by law. Exclusion from school will be enforced when appropriate.
  • Students who have symptoms of infectious illness, such as influenza (flu) or Covid-19, should stay home and contact their healthcare provider for testing and care.

School Staff

  • PLC teams will meet as in the past with Tuesday and Thursday as "tight" times.
  • Staff will be allowed to wear blue jeans on Fridays only or as approved for special circumstances.
  • Staff who have symptoms of infectious illness, such as influenza (flu) or Covid-19, should stay home and contact their healthcare provider for testing and care.
