High School Announcements

Wednesday, January 16, 2019

*The Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative Scholarship application is now available to students whose parents are members of the coop.  It is due April 30th.  See Mr. Davis for an application.

*Attention Neoga Junior/Senior High Students and Staff.  The fourth annual Running of the Nerds 5k sponsored by the National Honor Society is quickly approaching.  It's time to dust off those running shoes and stop talking about how to get rid of those extra pounds you gained over Christmas and get involved in this year's race.  The event will take place on Saturday, February 23rd at Jennings Park with the race starting at 9:00.  Registration will be at the old elementary school which starts at 7:30.  If you register before February 8th, the cost is only $20,00 and guarantees you a long sleeve dri-fit t-shirt.  Race day registration will be $25.00 and can't guarantee you a t-shirt.  Also this year all participants will receive a rally towel with the Indian logo on it.  The coveted pocket protector award will be given to the top three finishers in each age category for both male and female.  There will also be several door prizes you can register for that day, including a $25 gift card to Body n Sole.  Registration forms can be found in the office.

Will it be cold that day?  Probably.  Will it be snowing that day?  Possibly.  Will the wind be blustery?  More than likely.  But none of that matters because in the end you can say you did it.  Come out and join us for the race.

*Beginning this Friday, hot chocolate and coffee will be sold during intervention period.  The Library Cafe will be open to those who:  1.  Bring a pass and 2.  Bring in something to work on or read.  This is not a social gathering like last year, but you may come to enjoy a refreshment while quietly working or reading.

*“To me, good health is more than just exercise and diet. It’s really a point of view and a mental attitude you have about yourself.” ~ ALBERT SCHWEITZER

Happiness is a gift you give to yourself to live mindfully, authentically in the moment, to connect to your feelings and know how to shift to optimal feeling states of mind and body at any moment. It includes, no doubt, caring and giving your body what nourishes it, exercise and nutrient rich foods, and avoiding what does not. Most important, however, you need to feel happy about yourself and life in order to feel your own love and acceptance, to want to care and keep yourself healthy, emotionally and physically. When we’re happy, we’re more productive, creative, efficient.

Start the New Year off right by gifting yourself with happiness!  Happy New Year from The Healthcare Club!

This mindful message brought to you by the Healthcare Club.

*(From Mrs. Endsley):  Good morning Neoga Junior/Senior High School.

I would just like to thank everyone who contributed to yet another successful Thanksgiving food drive.  Your contributions will help provide an awesome Thanksgiving dinner for 40 families in our community and because we collected so much more than what was needed, we are able to contribute to the Christmas dinners as well and help keep the food pantry well-stocked this winter!  There was a total of over 23 hundred non-perishable food items brought in—THAT truly is awesome!

The results of the competition among the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are as follows:  The sophomores placed fourth with 96 items brought in.  The freshmen placed third with 125 items and will start homecoming week with 50 bonus points.  In second place earning 150 bonus points with 459 cans of green beans are the juniors.  And blowing all three of the other classes out of the water with 2.11 times the other three classes combined with 1,438 cans of corn earning 300 points, as well as an additional 50 points more for their over the top donation, are the seniors!

Thanks again guys!  I hope and pray you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy your time with your family and friends!

*Attention high school students:  Homecoming week is next week.  Monday kicks off with class color day.  Remember to wear your assigned class color so you can be counted towards participation points.  Also, if you haven't signed up yet to participate in the homecoming competitions, today is the last day to do so.  The sign up sheet will be available at lunch in the concession area.  Lastly, on Monday after school until 5 pm you will have an opportunity to decorate a locker for the locker decorating competition.  There's been a slight change to this year's locker decorating competition, so be sure to see Mrs. Endsley before you get started on Monday.
