As we prepare for Veterans Day, our students are learning about the men and women who have served our country and the sacrifices they have made.
Mrs. Hille's fourth-grade class had a special visitor! Army veteran Jon Lawyer stopped by to share his experiences serving in the United States Army, including two tours in Iraq.
Students were able to see several items from his time in the military, including a three-layer sleeping bag, military meals (MREs), Iraqi currency, and even a couple of cell phones from 2007 that gave the students a good laugh! 😂
Jon also shared stories about the extreme temperatures and weather conditions he experienced in Iraq. He showed students two pictures taken just five minutes apart that looked completely different because of a sudden sandstorm!
Our fourth graders were full of questions and very engaged throughout his visit. What a great opportunity to hear firsthand about military life and better understand the service and sacrifices of our veterans.
A special thank you to Jon Lawyer for taking time to visit our students, answer their questions, and share his experiences. We appreciate his service to our country and his willingness to help educate the next generation! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
